Eating & Obesity Therapy
Do you feel you have issues with food
- Do you comfort eat?
- Binge on food?
- Are you constantly dieting only to put the weight back on?
- Do you have body image problems?
- Low self esteem?
- Are you overweight and
- worried about your health?
- Maybe you have more extreme behaviour around and with food that is worrying you and affecting you physically?
- Do you think you may have Bulimia, Anorexia Nervosa, Ortherexia or Binge Eating Disorder?
- Do you feel out of control?
We can use food to emotionally comfort us. We may reach for food when we are upset and sometimes it can lead to extreme behaviour which is detrimental to our health, relationships, lifestyle and happiness.
You may have deeper issues from the past that are affecting you now and exploring them can be a positive, life changing experience and help to explain why you eat in a certain way.
Eating large amounts of food secretly, late at night or bingeing on sweet things can affect our metabolism, our blood sugar and serotonin levels. This can lead to diabetes and depression.
I will give you information about how our body reacts to dieting, fat, overeating and poor nutrition.
We will look at ways to gently move forward and make small changes which will aim to restore a balance and a more contented way of eating.
Maybe exercise is an issue for you. Too little or too much can be bad for our health. You might need some practical support, guidance and information about staying fit and eating healthily. I provide a space to explore these issues confidentially and in a non-judgemental way using the latest research from the National Weight Control Registry in the USA, approved, professional and recognised techniques and the NICE Guidelines to enable you to explore emotional issues, look at patterns, attitudes and beliefs and investigate health and nutritional concerns.
There is no calorie counting, dieting, scales or target weights, just realistic and manageable goals.
Have an assessment session either by telephone or face to face and look at how this type of therapy may be useful to you.
Longer Breakthrough session for Eating Disorders and Obesity
You may be finding it particularly hard to begin therapy or have had previous unsuccessful attempts at support or counselling.
Your eating behaviours may feel complicated and entrenched and don’t know where to go next.
You may not want to give time to weekly sessions and want an alternative way to confront the issues in one big session.
How does it work?
Following some NCFED training I am now able to offer clients an extended 3 hour session during which we take a deeper look at the issues involved and explore new ways of thinking and dealing with the crippling effects of this illness.
This longer session , pioneered by NCFED, with refreshment breaks, has proven to be an effective way of ‘breaking through’ and creating a new way forward.
We will use practical methods and recognised psychological approaches.
Please contact me if you think this would be the next step for you.
